We operate a play-based early childhood program (mixed age preschool) in Mid-City Baton Rouge. We are seeking someone who is passionate about authentic, child-led play, and can appreciate and actively support the key role it has in all domains of child development.

We are currently looking for one great caregiver to join our community. You must have a sense of humor, a creative mind, an outstanding work ethic, and be motivated to learn and grow as a teacher.

We are currently hiring:

  • full-time support caregiver (floater) for our mixed-age environment (6 weeks – 5 years).

Program hours and shifts range between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:30 PM. Occasional weekend and evening events may be required of staff. Must be available to commit for a minimum of a year.

Duties include: Supporting classroom teachers, supervising children, setting up and maintaining play spaces, supporting conflict resolution, snack and lunch preparation, diaper changes/potty training support, documenting learning, communicating with families, and cleaning of the space.

Must be able to meet physical demands: requires lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking may be required. Stooping, kneeling, bending, balancing, reaching, climbing, and use of the hands may occur throughout the workday. Lift and carry children up to 5 years of age. Must be capable of working indoors and outdoors for 2-3 hour blocks of time.

Basic requirements:

PREFERRED

  • Experience or education in Early Childhood Education or related field.

REQUIRED (instructions will be provided on how to accomplish these requirements)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 6 month minimum experience in a licensed child care facility
  • Fingerprint-based Criminal Background Clearance
  • Adult/Child/Infant CPR and pediatric first aid
  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Online Course

BONUS

  • Specific experience and interest in art, gardening, social justice, and nature
